Putting your goal in sight

Think of us as a straight line between you and project approval. At Caltech we hit the ground running, executing everything from 3-D mapping to professional land surveying for your well site or pipeline. We’re accurate and we’re fast.

About Us

We’re firmly rooted in Western Canada – oil and gas producers are our colleagues, landowners are our neighbours and the industry is in our blood.

How we see it

We’re in a demanding business. So it’s not good enough to solve problems; you have to anticipate them – using the latest technology. Even under challenging time constraints, we stay one step ahead.

Our teams have years of experience, so we can guide you from planning to construction. We adapt to your needs, and we’re constantly improving our practices. We’re right there on site, providing the resources you require – without losing sight of your budget.

Single point of contact

At Caltech you work with one designated specialist who lives and breathes your project from kick-off to sign-off. That specialist is either a professional land surveyor, engineer or geomatics professional – so the expertise you need is available to you at all times. You don’t have to deal with multiple layers of surveying team members; Caltech handles that. Your process is simple, efficient and productive.

Our team and where to find us

Our experienced staff in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba provide exceptional service to get your project done with accuracy and speed. Find out more…

Our Story

Back in 1990, Caltech launched with just two people. As our reputation for speed and accuracy grew, so did our company.

There are 140 of us now, and our experience runs the gamut, from major pipelines to extensive as-built surveys to well-site surveys.

We’re owned and run by surveyors and project managers who are as western as the Rocky Mountains. And we’re licensed to survey anywhere from British Columbia to Manitoba, so we can work wherever you need us – from the foothills to the prairies.

With offices in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, our teams know the land, regulations and stakeholders that matter. Regardless of location, we deliver accurate results. We use cutting-edge technologies that get the job done with speed and efficiency.

From pre-planning to completion, Caltech provides the advice and services you need to achieve success.

At Caltech our expertise extends well beyond traditional surveying boundaries, into construction practices, mapping and regulations. And we use cutting-edge technologies to give you the most accurate results as efficiently as possible. We survey with Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) GPS systems, LiDAR and Total Stations, and we transmit data directly from the field.

Utility Surveys

Our field staff are skilled and experienced in surveying for utility projects. We make sure you get off on the right foot.

Health and Safety

Safety is embedded into all of our work practices at Caltech. Our commitment to safety protects our employees, our clients’ staff and property, the public and the environment.

We set high standards, meeting and exceeding government regulations and client policies, as well as the petroleum industry’s safety principles.

Our safety management practices are detailed and carefully structured. Our senior management team, safety manager and supervisors identify safety needs, supply safety equipment, communicate hazards, investigate hazardous conditions and accidents, and provide training. It’s a grassroots effort. Our employees take pride in giving input and support to our safety practices.

Ensuring Safety for All

On our worksites, all Caltech employees and contractors are required to obey all safety rules, follow safe work practices, wear personal protective equipment, inform supervisors of any unsafe conditions, and participate in safety training programs. These regulations are managed with the respect they deserve.

To doubly ensure reliability and safety adherence, we subscribe to three safety compliance websites – ISNetworld, Complyworks, and Avetta. These sites offer the most up-to-date information on Caltech’s safety program and safety performance statistics, WCB records, insurance documents and our Certificate of Recognition. We use tools from these sites to improve our safety programs – from client safety orientation guides to contractor qualifications verification.

Caltech is owned and managed by professional land surveyors and project managers who offer a wealth of experience and knowledge. Please contact the nearest office if you’d like more information on our services, or to get started on your project.
